I made this site to help beginners with Web development. I don't claim to be an experienced web developer but I have made quite a few websites.
I use PERL, PHP, MYSQL, CSS and Javascript all running on Apache servers.
So I do have some knowledge of the subject, which could be of use to you - so I maybe able to help you and if not I probably know where to look -
such is the great plus of the Internet. If you want to build your own website, take a look around this site at the tips and links I've included. Then
if you need more help or advice use the Contact Us page or e-mail me directly.
Please note, I am not very artistic, so I can't help you with the designer things like FLASH and Photoshop or whatever. My area is programming and databases
- these are the tools that make a website interactive rather than pretty - but interaction is what makes the visitors keep coming back to your site.
Me - I started programming in COBOL and Assembler too many years ago to remember. Then I drifted into IT management, but really missed the hands-on stuff.
So in the mid-90's when I discovered the then new thing called the Internet, it was an opportunity to get involved in a new type of programming (and it was free!)
using PERL, PHP and Javascript. It's fun and you get a great sense of achievement (sounds like a Geek talking..) when you get something to work.
If you want to try it but don't know where to start, don't worry it's not as mysterious as some others may have you believe.
So search this site for advice and if you can't find what you are looking for then contact me and I'll try and answer your query - for free. If all else fails, I
may be able to build a site for you at very competitive rates.
